alrighty then...i'm back
i've been reading scientific papers for my marine biology class for the last 5 hours or so and it's getting really boring. I'm preparing for this debate, but I'm not sure my brain is working well enough to give me something to say. For some reason I feel really shy when I'm at that class. Hopefully at the meeting on tuesday with my group they'll help me and I can make sure that I understand what's going on. My other class doesn't have anything to do, at least nothing that I know of.
I bought tickets to go see the New Zealand Ballet do Dracula in a couple weeks. There's 4 of us going. It should be really nice.
I have a cold that's driving me nuts. I tried to go out last night (Sat.) and I watched the rugby game at the Big Kumara, but then I just felt like crap and went to bed. The Big Kumara is this bar/club place that we've gone a couple times now. There's a bar area with a pool table and such and then another area that's set up for dancing. On Wed. night we were there and they were having 80s night. It was really fun. We had planned to go to bed around midnight, but ended up getting home at 3. Great fun. Unfortunately I felt rather ugly. I'm too shy to go talk to anyone in the club and I have fun dancing with my friends, but I want to meet people and I can't.
Tomorrow I get my temporary student visa and I can start looking for a job. I really need one! Going out gets very expensive even though I don't buy all of my drinks, and I'd like to get a new pair of jeans. I dont' really care what kind of job I get, but I'd prefer waitressing or some sort of retail. Monday the search begins!!
I think this week I'm gonna check out the tramping club on tuesday night and actually look for the ski and snowboard club table in the quad so I can sign up. I'm also working on finding some people to go surfing with. I know where to go, and I've found a bunch of people who want to go, but we have no boards and no local to show us the ropes. I'm not particularly comfortable just goin out there without knowing how things work around here.
What else to say....there's a Crepes A-go-go here. Just like in Berkeley! The one here is a bit smaller though, but the crepes are cheaper and are SO GOOD! I've eaten there a ton already! I'm beginning to get more familiar with the layout of Wellington. We pretty much stay in about a 4-5 block radius of our dorm since we have no car, but I can find lots of things.
I can't really think of anything to say now...
