Mmm...brunch this morning was actually good. My dorm (hostel) is having this party on thursday. It's a "fetish" party. It's like a themed party and the theme is fetish. I think they're expecting everyone to show up in S&M gear or something. Anne and I are probably not going to go, but we were joking about potential costumes. We talked of dressing as sperm and saying we had a sperm fetish, or penises and having a penis fetish. We also discussed just streaking through, as though it were a naked fetish, but not staying. Reminded me of my "Lady godiva" costume my mom made me a couple years back. I guess lady godiva was some weirdo who rode around naked on a horse and had really long hair that covered all her "parts". So my mom got me a really, really long blond wig and made a little bodysuit thing out of flesh colored fabric and then put little pink fabric nipples on it and some lacy pubic hair. It was hilarious!! but i'd never be caught dead in it in public. It'd be really funny to wear to the fetish party and say i was a nudist. But i left it at home, and i'd have to either be really, really drunk, or someone would have to pay me to wear it. I'm open to fetish costume suggestions in the comments of this thing = P
So last night I mentioned that I have 5 choices for my thesis project and I have to pick one by monday. I'm going to write them out here, in the hopes that someone might find it kinda interesting, and also that spelling them out will help me to decide which i want to do. Here goes:(they're pretty much all about sea anemones and their symbiotic organsims called zooxanthellae, which i will call zoox.)
1) Study the effects of salinity on the zoox. of temperate sea anemones.
2) Study the membrane stability of the cells in the zoox. under different temperature extremes and levels.
3) An anemone has been found that has no zoox, but lives on seaweeds only, I would investigate if there is any sort of relationship, symbiotic or otherwise, between the anemone and the seaweed. This one wouldn't just be about the species, because there has never been a link found between seaweed and another organism living in any sort of mutualism.
4) When the zoox get messed up by environmental factors or certain things, their photosynthetic processes get all fucked up and they end up being unable to process the resources. When this happens, they put out oxygen radicals. Nobody knows what forms these oxygen radicals take, so I would be trying to figure this out.
5) Basically trying different kinds of zoox on a particular anemone to look at the specificity of the zoox and see if there are production differences between the different types on this one organism.

Some of them are more cutting edge, but I can't remember which those are. Right now my favorites are the Seaweed-anemone association, and one other. I can't currently think of which one that is. Apparantely I'm going brain dead. I have a bunch of papers to read about them though and I'm supposed to get ideas and pick one by monday! AAAAhh! They all sound kind of interesting to me. I hate decisions!!
I really should get work done, but I think I may watch shrek and play solitaire for a while longer before I get some reading done. oooh...maybe i'll force myself to go up to the botanical gardens or down to the waterfront to read in the sun. The only problem with that is that it's not as warm outside as it looks, and it's kinda windy so the papers would keep blowing away.
anyways, i should get started with my procrastination so i can finish it and get on with my work = P
cheers
Hawaii!!

I'd like to see you wearing the lady godiva suit. I'd rather see you not wearing anything at all.
